Don't mess with me or I'll shoot ya'!

So purgatory has a new law on the books, it's called the "stand your ground" law. This law states that when you are attacked in the State of Florida you have the right to use your gun to defend yourself. You no longer have to prove it was self defense, you can just whip it out and use it. Of cuorse the bill being past is just another feather in the cap of the National Rifle Association, who lobbied hard to get this law in place, not that it would have been difficult to convince a bunch of toothless crackers to support such an action, but the NRA was there pushing the envelope with their AK-47 and other heavy duty artillery they think every citizen should not be without.

Not to bash the NRA which those who know me know that it is one of my favorite hobbies but picture this: you're driving down a highway a guy cuts you off, you give him what for, he gives you what for in return. This esculates into a road rage incident in which you both get out of your cars and scream at each other. One of you throws a punch the other pulls a gun-b'dow, you got yourself a bullet in the head--in self defenmse. Far-fetched, maybe, but I don't think so, in court this law can be used as a defense and then could be made precedent, and once that happens it can be used in any state for any similiar circumstance even if there is no law on the books in said state. Its like when the Supreme Court ruled that states can overturn Federal law. After that states began overturning federal law like it was going out of style, like the Brady Bill for instance that states anyone buying a gun must wait through a 7-day waiting period in order to complete purchase and recieve said merchandise. So in states like Florida and Virginia you can buy a gun with no more than a driver's license, and walk out of your local Wal-Mart artillery in hand. Consider this: Guy drives from New York to Virginia, guy goes to gun shop, guy uses well-made fake ID to purchase two glock 9mms, guy gets in his car, drives back in New York and sells the glocks for a profit at his high school to other guy. Other guy wants to get revenge on third guy for selling drugs on his turf, other guy goes to school that Monday shoots third guy in the neck, third guy dies in high school auditorium. Couldn't happen right? Wrong, it did, in Jamaica High School in 1988, a year before I got there. I used to have lunch with the kid that sold the gun, his older brother was the one who took the run down to virginia and back. Thank you NRA and while we're at it, thank you Supreme Court.

I'm all for defending yourself. Learn how to box. You want to own a gun?, I have no problem with that, but do you need a glock? You want to go hunting but do you need a automatic rifle? I know, guns don't kill people, people kill people--exactly--people are killers, stop giving them guns!! The contitution does not garuntee your right to bear arms, niether does the Bill of Rights for that matter, it actually says that every state is allowed to keep a well armed militia, the NRA wants you to think that the ammendment actually says you have the right to bear arms, it does not. I know there are bad people out there with guns doing bad things and gunowners want theirs so when they are confronted with these bad people they can protect themselves, well fine, but where does it end? Have fun killing yoursleves you cracker-ass-crackers!

while i'll give you the state of florida which has gun laws so lax, that is where a good chunk of gun runners purchase their fare, virginia has more stringent gun laws due to the brady bill and allthough the assault weapons ban has expired, you still can't by an ak-47. that just alarmist nonsense.

there are 22,000 gun laws on the books in this country and i couldn't vouch for states laws. and that kid in jamaica would be alive if they were being enforced, but they aren't. we are too mired in political correctness to profile known drug selling and criminal behavior because law enforcement is afraid the ACLU will crawl up their ass because a poor black kid who associates with known drug offenders is acting suspicious when a cop sees him walking down hillside and 168th street with a limp. the kind of limp that comes with having a piece of iron strapped to your leg. there are drug laws too, that aren't enforced but that is another story.

the stand your ground law sounds kind of like the texas law that lets folks shoot folks on their property if they are tresspassing. i think this is going to get litigated all to hell. i'm sure it was borne in the spirit of arizona's carry permit laws which had seen a drop of 75 percent in the armed crime rate in that state after everyone was allowed to carry a gun if they wanted to. granted, it strikes me a little too cowboy for my taste but armed crime went down. also, one has to keep in mind, gun laws are for people who OBEY THE LAW. criminals don't care about the law, thus renderring gun legislation unimportant to the criminal element.
the problem is that the criminal element doesn't get ridden nearly enough. not being able to profile folks on the jersey tpke has resulted in a rise in drug and gun activity in the area. i don't think that you have to worry about the law abiding citizens in this matter. maybe stand your ground will make it easier for law abiding citizens to take a stand against the criminal element but the bastard isn't advocating vigilantism now is he?

We always had armaments in the house, I recall Sgt. Dad 3000 coming home from work and we could not play "Dog pile on the rabbit" until the .38's were stowed in his closet, we respected that even as kids.

I'm down to one; albeit a 12 gauge with laser grip and 8 shell capacity with a speed feed housing another 8, and it's stowed off property ('cuz of my freekin' liberal wife) although there are times I do wish I had "Ole' Kaboomy" riding side saddle when some prick in a goddman Escalade UberPrick Edition is so far up my kazoo that Jessie Helms is bleaching his lower half in Pete's Red Hot (and I've got 'lil 3K strapped gabba-gabba-heying to "Bonzo goes to Bitzburg") I know that a law like this would only end up me playing "Doom III" for real. There am's no reason for anyone except law enforcement, security guards and national guardsmen, state militia (Hey, my great, great grandpappy Jebadiah Thricethousand was one of the first New Amsterdambits who threw hiz gunz in tha air) and HATE-AH (Honkeys Against The Evil ACLU Hypocrites) to leave the house with a heater. Take it from the Amish, they are so against gun violence they invented Twenty-One-Mule-Fist Kung-Fu and even then they only use it on the flesh and bratwurst craving undead Amish.

It's easer for me to call the guy a dick eating mutt go home and play GTA and forget the whole geshtaltski.

I though you would give me a pass on this rant because I let you slide the last couple of weeks with your defense of our facist regime in Washington. One thing, where there is smoke there is fire, take it from a pyromaniac, and there is so much smoke coming out of top of the Capitol Building you would think they just elected a new pope.

I have no problem with 38s, it's the automatic weopans that get my goat, even mobsters don't need automatic weopans when they are doing hits, for christmas sake.

And drug laws are enforced on the "violent" offenders of the Marijauna market, those heathens.

Interesting note, they call them crackers because the owners of property would have ranch hands as paid staff, it was these ranch hands that cracked the whip, hence crackers. And boy they are damn proud when you call them crackers.

And no I wasn't electicuted, during my time off I had my bone marrow replaced with rubber, bring on the amps!!!

only a half pass shiteyes. there are stats on similar gun legislation in other states that say otherwise. but then again those other states don't have serious danger like say... the wrong corner in miami. arizona's crime rate says otherwise.

onca again just because there is no longer an assault weapons ban doesn't mean you can buy an automatic weapon in this country legally. you cannot. otherwise this month's issue of the magazine would be covering coyote hunting with an m-16 while driving an abrams tank. it is not. i've been working this gig long enough to have decent understanding about gun legislation to know slander when i reads it. no one needs an auto anyway. most cities have enough coverage that an auto just raises your overhead when you shoot at someone.

fascism is nationalism more commonly associated with socialism. socialism is something more associated with communism. you know the rest of the progression. the left fancies themselves clever with language when they call the republicans fascist. they want the american tv viewers to draw the correlation towards hitler. that's bullshit and you know why we let you run with tht bull? because that bull is gonna eat you one day shiteyes. he's gonna eat all y'all one day.

good for your bone marrow there baby plas.

dub,

are you talking about the elkhorn manifesto? it's a work of fiction. however, the walkers and bushes have older money than the nazis. you must be confusing that with the new money that was the kennedys. i repeat, the bushes were rich before there were nazis. secondly, apparently there were alot of nazi sympathizers in the wealthy circles. take say charles lindbergh. take say henry ford. hey...don't you drive a mercury? isn't that a division of ford? does that make you a nazi sympathizer? no it doesn't.

my point about fascism is very much rooted in the usage of the term in recent years as a buzz word used to help hippies draw references to hitler. not discussing why george 41 felt the need to drop out of yale to jump into a bomber to help his country. mebbe he was embarrased about what someone in his family had done. mebbe it was because he wanted to be a good american. it's easy to build a straw man out of someone who you don't know. the media has been doing it for years

what a coincidence that Webster Tarpley wrote a bush smear book as well as a war on terror smear book and look at this a book on iran contra. well this guy doesn't have an agenda at ALL. yawn. i say yawn to your findings. what have you read on the other side of the aisle?

Blah, blah, blah, still doesn't change the fact that I'm right. I don't need statistics to prove it, I have common sense and the natural order of things in my corner. And stop defending Delay, the guy has been crooked for decades, just because they haven't been able to nail him doesn't mean he isn't a corrupt fucker.

dub,

take it easy minister of propaganda. i don't purport that only my news is correct, i just purport to read something other than time and the new york times (not to retread an earlier line but, we have both country AND western). if you'd like , i could supply you with multiple points of view but, i'm not going to make up my mind for you. apparently, you have this weeks episode of "so you think you can dance" to make it up for you. just kidding.

come on everyone loved professor griff. especially the anti semitic remarks he made that got him tossed from the PE.

i don't hate country or western but i do also listen to industrial and classical and jazz. point is, in a world where media bias is alleged, you need to read what the other team says so that you know both sides of the issue. paul krugman won't give you that no matter how many time you read him.

frame of reference schmame of reference. newspapers usually cover the same story and then cherry pick the rest. AP does it too sometimes. you just have to dig.

i know you can't rewrite history which is why i am surprised that howard zinn thought he could. goebbels just put forth the theory of the big lie which howard dean and co seem to be quite adept at using. it's like the hammer to their sickle. yeah...i went there

karl rova is a strategist. his party is who he is beholding to. the people he works for are who he's beholding to. the new york times is a faceless entity that has more leeway in the lying department. part of everyone's karl rove fascination is kind of like our fascination with king george III during the revolution. parliament was a big faceless entity that dictated what we had to put up with so we put g III's face on it. the media and the left are flummoxed by bush's success in the polls and they need to put a face on the american people who voted for him and it is karl rove. at the end of the day the orwellianess of it is built around the media's (not state owned as in '84) invisible war between east annexia and west oceania.

i meant the general election. i don't really pay attention to polls. polls are administered to roughly 1500 people per survey and you can't get an accurate sense of how the country feels by surveying 1500 new yorkers on the street. and even if you called 1500 people throughout the nation you couldn't get an accurate baseline. or you could go the othe route on online polls. if you are a smart cookie, you can dump your browsers cookie and vote as many times as you like and enough people doing that could slant a poll either way.

now what if (just supposing) 50 SEIU office workers are taken off of whatever clerical job they are doing to surf online polls on major media outlets, dump their browser cookies and vote again. could it slant things? maybe. but the bastard finds that a little too paranoid for my tastes. another tact is that said SEIU employees call union households and point them in the direction of said polls and the same thing happens. could it slant things? i know a guy i went to high school with who regularly goes on newsgroups to point his fellow lefties towards MSM website polls. i don't see him making the same stops on conservative newsgroups. who knows amybe he is but i doubt it.

point is that viral marketing (this actually started when fanclubs/marketing firms stirred up a particular singer's fan base by dangling some kind of autographed carrot to them would repeated call into MTV's total request live to boost said artist) has ruined anything honest about polling. so thus, i don't pay attention to them.

your leaving out the grass roots left. also, the times has a way of conducting polls in such a manner that the line of questioning will lead to the answers that hey want in the long run. it don't make me no nevermind. i just don't trust polls. hell i don't even trust the dick morris vote.com sight and i like dick morris.
